Merredin - Day 13

Fletcher: Today we drove from Kalgoorlie to Merredin, we stopped for lunch at Southern Cross.  We ate sandwiches and biscuits and dip.  Then we chose a caravan park at Merredin, we set up and then Mum, Mackenzie and I went to the pool, it wasn't that cold.  A couple of minutes later dad came in too.  A couple of minutes before dad got there mum took a photo of Mackenzie under the water, then dad said don't put the camera under water, mum said go under water to dad and I will take a photo of you, so dad went under water and then dad wanted mum to keep taking photos of him under water, it was funny.  We had all leftovers for tea and watched the gremlins movie.

Mackenzie :  We drove for a very long time and then stopped at Merredin.  Then we did our jobs and then went to the pool.  And mum took a photo of me doing a handstand under water and dad gave me a piggy back under water.  We were in there for a while and everyone got out except me.  We went back to the caravan and had dinner, I watched the end of Despicable Me and we all watched the Gremlins.  It was funny.

Today was a day of travel mostly and relaxation.  We decided to got to Merredin for the night as we are going to go into Perth on Saturday to try catch up with friends.  It was a pretty easy drive that we broke up with lunch at a beautiful park in Southern Cross.  It is so handy to have the van to pull over in and make lunches and snacks along the way.  The park at Merredin got quite busy as the afternoon went on but we did have the pool to ourselves.  We had such a fun time with Mackenzie the water baby swimming laps, doing handstands and not wanting to get out.  Fletcher had us in fits of laughter attempting to go under water to have his photo taken, he would close his eyes & hold his breath and not move, we still cant work out if he thought he was under the water each time or just having a joke with us.  It was a real family holiday afternoon, with Dan whizzing the kids around in the pool & duck diving them under water, tonnes of laughter- the park owners probably wished we had driven on past.  We finally finished in the pool and went for a walk around the park, only to head back to the van for another Griswold moment, our hose had burst off the van and we were surrounded by water, not a little puddle, quite deep - the size of our van and beyond.  Only a bit embarrassing ! We had tea and a movie night, with the kids thinking Gremlins was a funny movie, I was rapt as I thought I was in for a long night with scared kids.
