Mackenzie :Today we drove to our next place which is called Perth. We went to see my dads friend and it was his little girls birthday. And we got her a dress. Her name is Ruby, she is 2 years old, she is really nice and funny. We drove around and got Chicken Treat for dinner. We did a clean up of the caravan. Me and Fletch made a cubby and we played uno.

Fletcher: Today we left from Merredin to go to Perth. We had no stops today and just kept driving. While we were driving we saw 2 big trucks carrying mining machines. One of the mining machines was so heavy that 2 trucks had to carry it on one trailer. A couple of freeways later we saw 2 trucks carrying 2 big dump trucks on their trailer. When we got to Perth we went to the caravan park then unpacked the caravan and then went to see Rohan who is my uncle Cams brother. Mercedes is his wife and she can speak Spanish, she is from Spain. And Ruby is 2 years old and is having her birthday down the beach tomorrow. Then we drove back after visiting them and went to get our dinner which was Chicken Treat.

Another day on the road, another day stuck behind a wide load. Todays was 2 dump trucks out of the mines, they took up both lanes of the road and had escort vehicles and police flashing lights. We were on a bit of a time limit to get near Perth but the trucks were going at almost walking pace. Again the photos can't explain just how big they were but it was amazing to see and a weird feeling overtaking them- we had to wait till our lanes had become dual overtaking lanes and then overtake them on the wrong side of the road into the oncoming traffic, they were all very accommodating by moving into the dirt for the long stream of traffic to overtake. We made it into Hazelmere which is a great park which allows dogs but you pay a premium to have your dog :( It does have great areas for dogs to run about, on a lead but a good space. The site itself was quite expensive but as we were counted as having 3 kids I suppose it worked out ok. It is a large concrete pad that we got the van and car onto with some nice shade and a really welcome breeze. The facilities are great too so in all it was really worth the cost. We unhooked the van and headed over to Scarborough to catch up with friends, Rohan & Mercedes and finally meet their gorgeous 2 year old Ruby. We were lucky enough to see Rohan while he was on a break between his shifts and it was great to chat, reminisce & watch Ruby and the kids have a fun time together. Bentley had a lovely secure backyard to play in but chose to sit at the back window and watch the kids and amuse Ruby, that is until we look up and see him sitting at their front door- Houdini dog!! They haven't changed a bit and it was great to see Daniel having a beer with a mate. We hadn't seen them in 4 years we all worked out since they were in Melbourne with Cam & Jane, really hope its not that long between catch ups this time. We drove along the beach looking out to the Indian Ocean and watched the surfers, any wonder Roh loves it here. Dan loved it for quite a different view, no not road trains, all the tanned, gorgeous women walking along the walkway, I swear they all looked like models. We headed back to the van and decided we would try out Chicken Treat, it is a cross between KFC & Red Rooster but there is so many of them over here we had to give it a go, it passed the taste test with flying colors. No cooking tonight, can't say I'm too sad about that. The kids are role playing all the movies they have seen over the years, which is pretty cool but can get pretty annoying when they have said the same line from the same film 300 times. They are also doing a lot of "remember the time we......." which is also great but most of what they are remembering is from the last few days, so our answer is " yes of course we remember that it was 4 hours ago!" They are at this moment making a cubby house at one end of the van with glow sticks & party lights, Dan & I are wrecked but its great to see them having such simple fun so we don't want to interrupt.

Trying to work out how to comment and not having much success - may have to wait until after the Carlton-Collingwood game finishes to ask Murray for help (although if Carlton loses he might be too grumpy to ask!). Looks like you're having an amazing time - feeling rather jealous. xx
