Kalbarri - Day 18

Fletcher: Today we saw a lot of scenic places.  First we saw Natural Bridge & island rock, then we saw eagle gorge, pot alley, mushroom rock & red bluff.  My favourite was pot alley because we climbed a cliff.  Then we went back to the caravan park and had a swim at the pool.

Mackenzie: Today we looked at cliffs, we went to natural bridge and when we walked back up to our car we found 2 lizards and they had stripes on them so we called them tiger lizards.  Then we went back to the caravan park and went in the pool.  And we had lunch and at night we saw the kangaroos on the oval. And while we are asleep at night the kangaroos hop around our caravan park, they have come right up to our caravan.

We had a great day driving along the coast today pulling into look at all the different lookouts.  There are dog baits down so we couldn't risk getting Bentley out plus it all fell into National Park so we couldn't anyway.  We went down to Natural Bridge which is a bit like our 12 apostles area, it was gorgeous, nature is amazing.  We saw some lizards on the way back, the size of little skinks but they had stripes on them so the kids named them tiger lizards, which sounded very exciting & life threatening when they were telling Dan about them!  I think our favourite would have been pot alley because you could drive right up to the edge of the cliffs, ok ok so the powers aren't much of the walking kind, but we are going to blame the humidity for that.  At pot alley you could climb the cliffs & take photos of the coastline, all the others had great walkways & walking trails ranging from 3km to 8kms.  We drove around Kalbarri, the views from most of the homes are million dollar views, with one average looking home on the main road on the coast was for sale for $1.4 million, would hate to see what the fancy homes are going for.  There is a new eco flora estate being built and the houses are amazing all with views of the ocean, the land seemed reasonably priced but it is all the rules that went with being in the eco estate that would cost you a fortune.  There is so many European tourists in and around the area.  Many families touring in the Britz camper type of accommodation, others doing it in those little hi-ace type vans painted in the bright colored graffiti and so many camping in tents.  It is unthinkable how hot it must be for them, 2 girls camped just up from us spend their day on chairs outside their tents and only have torches for light, you just want to ask them in for a cold drink but they seem to be having such a great time, mostly tapping away on their laptops and ipad for most of the day and night.  Mackenzie made a friend today in the park named Jasmine, she was 4 and dutch, she followed Mackenzie everywhere she went talking & singing the most beautiful song, neither could understand the other but they played for ages together, it just shows especially with kids that language isn't a barrier.  There was the most amazing sky, just after sunset tonight but none of us in the park could catch it on camera very well at all, even the ones with flashy cameras, such a shame because it is probably the best I've seen.  We went to the IGA today for vegies, we haven't been doing the meat & 3 vegies so Dan cooked his spaghetti that I'm sure you will know is famous with the kids.   I got the best thing from Tupperware, don't know what its called, we call it the chippy chopper, its the size of a tennis ball and has 3 blades and a pull cord like a lawn mower, anyway amazing thing it is and cuts the pieces so much smaller than a grater, so I did a zucchini, carrot, onion and mushrooms in it and Dan hid them in his spaghetti like we did when they were little, the response - the best spaghetti dad has made!  Must keep doing it.  I snuck off and watched tv tonight in the games room, you just watch whatever everyone else is watching, kept me amused till 10pm when they came to lock the room up for the night.
