Fletcher : Today the family was sick again and we left Tennant Creek to Wauchope. When we got there we went and looked at the Devils Marbles.

Mackenzie : Today we drove to Wauchope and when we got there we went to the Devils Marbles, they are really really big rocks stacked on top of each other. We climbed them and we saw a dingo. We went back to the van and played games.
The Devils Marbles
Look at my kids taking advantage of their "teacher" being worn out and tired, their diaries are as short as their blog entries and no school work was done either I don't think :) Today we are feeling a bit better and Dan has decided he is well enough to drive. We still have the aches in the back and head but we are able to get up out of bed. We headed to Wauchope and were the only ones at the park when we got there, it was out the back of the road house and was stones but there was trees for shade and a great camp kitchen with a huge patch of green grass. There was a pool but the kids had even given up wanting to dip their feet in. This was another great spot. I was still feeling bad so didn't see much of the place except the couch and my pillow. So we are the only ones in the park and we hear the gate open and in comes another van, plenty of trees, plenty of space, so where does he park..... yep next to us! No he has had 2nd thoughts, the car starts and he is on the move, no he has decided to pull in CLOSER to us, what the ?? The whole park, any choice of site and he parks on top of us, I just don't get people. They did turn out to be lovely checking on us to see if we felt ok, but still they could have moved a few feet away. We went out to the Devils Marbles which were amazing, the kids spent a bit of time climbing the lower ones. These massive rocks that are just propped and balancing on top of each other are amazing. The aboriginals believed that these were the rainbow serpents eggs. Mackenzie is certain she saw them concreted together but I think that has something to do with the broken down truck in the car park filled with rapid set bags of concrete! We went out to the camp ground and there was a dingo just lounging around, away from the campers but he didn't seem too threatened when we got out to take a photo. We have a bit of a running joke in the family of pointing something out and then saying oh no its just a stick. This happened once to us when Fletcher pointed out a "horse" to us which in fact turned out to be a stick on closer viewing. So Mack points to the Dingo that was laying under a bench and says look its a dingo, just about to say on no its a stick when she realised it was a dingo and got so excited she nearly jumped out of the car. It was lovely to get out but too tiring for both Dan & I so we headed back to the van. Dan went to the pub to see if they would do a take away meal for us and they were filling up fast as they were all coming in from far and wide to watch the state of origin. All dressed in there team t shirts, everyone seemed to know everyone and it was a great atmosphere. Dan waited for the meal and the kids and I went back to the van. The kids had a lasagne and vegies to share which was huge and Dan & I were still not up to eating so we got a schnitzel with vegies to share which went in the fridge when the kids weren't looking as we were still too tired to eat. The Powers too sick to eat, this is some bug we have!
