Kununurra - Day 47

Fletcher: today we mainly went to town.  We slept in and had a nice breakfast, which was a crunchy nut muesli bar and a banana yogurt.  First we went to a crossing that was closed because of the crocs but a man was fishing there all alone, it was called Ivanhoe Crossing.  We went to a lookout but we were scared to go up because of the snakes so dad went up, luckily he came back down.  When we went back to the caravan park we had sandwiches for lunch after half an hour we went to the pool it was colder than yesterday.  I learned how to go right to the bottom of the pool.  Us and mum went to town and we got a chocolate bar.  For dinner we had southern fried chicken and vegies.

Mackenzie: Today we slept in, then we went into town and went to target and I got a Moshi Monster Holiday Book.  I have already started it.  Then we went back to the caravan and had lunch.  After that we went to the pool, dad threw us in the air and me, and mum went to the shops and tried to find a I pad, we couldn't find one and we went and got a chocolate bar.  For dinner we had chicken it was yum, then we had a look around for crocs, we found 2.

We decided to have a look around town today and have a bit of a relax.  We went and had a look at a few shops and a bit of a tour around town.  After talking to a lot of people we decided to bring ourselves into the 20th century and get an I-Pad.  So we headed into a shop, who would then send us to a different shop, who would then send us to another shop, so by the close of business today we had worked out no one in town sell I-Pads!  The kids were so excited and are now petrified that the moment is gone, they may be right, but we will see how we go when we get to Darwin.  We are still waiting on Dan's coke to come in, we are cutting it fine and he is now having withdrawals, the lemon squash just isn't the same.  The Coles is good but small, this is the first place since leaving home that we had to put money in the trolleys, it has felt strange not to put money in it.  We went back to the van for some sandwiches, we are loving the fresh bakery bread.  We went swimming, I think that should just be on repeat each day...... we went swimming!  It is hard to comprehend that Melbourne had the heaters on at home and we just can not cool down, one thing is for sure as beautiful as it is over here I could never live here.  We spent a long while in the pool and again got chatting to different people, there hasn't been as many kids as we have gotten further up the coast which is a bit sad for the kids but I'm sure once we get back into the more touristy places they will find some friends again.  We took a drive out to Ivanhoe Crossing, even though we had been told the council had closed it we hoped they were wrong.  Daniel had been looking forward to doing the crossing, so it was really disappointing to see it had been closed.  I don't know if its for safety reasons or council liability but it is gated shut.  It still has all the warning signs up on how to try cross it safely but it is a very strong flowing point of the Ord River, we took some video because the noise is like that of a large waterfall or similar, you have to speak/yell quite loudly over the noise to be heard.  There was a man in the middle doing some fishing, crazy man as there is said to be crocs.  I cant miss out on reminding Dan that he too thought he would walk a little of the crossing, well after only a few steps, he slipped along the moss on the bottom, he recovered well, but it was hilarious but only because he didn't fall to the ground because he probably would have broken an arm or wrist how far he slipped.  Lots of vegies with chicken tonight, we really stocked up and some nice apples & bananas.  Did I mention they have Tuckerbag in Kununurra, does anyone remember Tuckerbag, Dan and I were cracking up which sent us into a spiral of reminiscing as the kids kept pushing us for more things, we hope they were laughing at each thing and not how old & daggy their parents are.  We found a chicken treat here as well but were disappointed to see that it hard bars and grills over the windows and no advertising etc at the drive thru, it was dark and we presumed it was closed down.  Wrong!  We look around and that's what most of the shops in that area look like, a glimmer of hope, so then we see a car in the drive thru with lunch being handed out.  I will take a photo and add it to the blog, you really cant picture these things, even though people warn you about certain towns, until you get to them and see something like this.  We had a late night look for crocodiles in the lake, we didn't get bitten by crocs but we were bitten by a million mozzies.
